Comments | Introduced in the 1970s. Appeared in Cahora Bassa reservoir presumably by downstream drift from Lake Kariba. Forms a basis for a fishery (Ref. 1739). Was able to colonize the Cahora Bassa Reservoir in 1975. Tigerfish (Hydrocynus vittata) and Butter Catfish (Schilbe intermedius) prey on the introduced sardines (Ref. 13364). Ref: Lever, C., 1996 |
